New Delhi, December 23: In a huge setback to veteran Congress leader N D Tiwari in the paternity battle against him, the Delhi High Court today directed him to undergo DNA test to ascertain the veracity of a young man’s claim that he is his biological son.
Citing international laws that it is the right of a child to know its paternity, Justice S Ravindra Bhat said in his order that for establishing that the court can order such test in the interest of that individual.
“Unless the Court feels in certain circumstances that it is against the interests of the child to know of its paternity, the Court is justified in ascertaining the paternity of the child through reliable scientific tests such as DNA tests,” the court said.
