Ludhiana, July 25: The mysterious death of a 57-year-old man at Phullanwal village on July 18 has turned out to be a case of murder, involving the deceased’s wife and her alleged lover.
With the arrest of the accused — Paramjit Kaur (37) and Jagtar Singh— who have confessed to the crime, the Sadar police claim to have solved the case.
The body of Nazar Singh was found in a vacant plot near his house in the Anand Nagar colony of Phullanwal village on July 19. As there were no external injury marks on the deceased’s body, the police had treated it as a suicide case and initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
The family members of the deceased, however, accused his wife of murdering Nazar, as her alleged affair with Jagtar was known to the family, said Station House Officer of the Sadar police station Mandeep Singh.
Later, the postmortem report revealed that Nazar had died on July 18 due to strangulation.
According to sources, the deceased originally hailed from Burj Litt village near Kila Raipur, and Jagtar who is in his late 30s, had taken Nazar’s agriculture land on contract.
But later when the affair between Jagtar and Paramjit, who was 20 years younger to Nazar, became known to the residents, Nazar Singh shifted his family to Phullanwal village about one-and-a-half-years ago.
But the duo hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Nazar as he was proving to be a hindrance in their affair.
