Minister of State, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti has compared herself with B. R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“I don’t come from a wealthy family. Ambedkar also didn’t belong to a rich family, so is the case with Modi. Ambedkar had devoted his life to uplift the poor. Born in a poor family, Modi is now the prime minister of the country and serving the people. My mission is to reach the poorest of the poor and rehabilitate them,” Jyoti told BJP workers at Bindki area in her parliamentary constituency Fatehpur on Saturday evening.
The opposition parties may be making unwanted hue and cry over minor issues, but they should not overlook that the people have given majority to BJP, sadhvi said.
“I am fighting for self-respect and honour of the country,” she claimed. “Whatever I had said is now a matter of past. I don’t have anything to comment in this regard,” she told reporters when asked about her comment.
The Lok Sabha MP from Fatehpur also refused to make any statement against those who have been making an effort to take advantage of her past.
“I am not interested in discussing such issue with anybody. I also don’t have any complain against my rivals,” she said.
Samajwadi Party leader Rakesh Sachan who lost the Lok Sabha elections in 2014 to Sadhvi alleged that Niranjan Jyoti’s husband had forsaken her for some unknown reason.
The sadhvi won from Fatehpur by misleading voters, allege Sadhvi rivals including Sachen. She had not only projected herself as a lifelong ascetic but also sent a message to voters that she belongs to Dalit
