Myanmar’s tactics are delaying and blocking the return of Rohingya refugees said Bangladesh PM on Tuesday, reported Reuters.
The PM accused Myanmar in her exclusive interview with a news agency on sidelines of United Nations General Assembly.
Myanmar in response to attacks on Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army and a military base launched crackdown operation in Rakhine state in August last year as claimed by the government forcing and causing more than 7 lakh Rohingya Muslims to flee to neighbouring nation across border Bangladesh for protection against the large military attack on Rohingya Muslims, Scroll reported.
Though Bangladesh could not close the doors to needy Rohingya Muslims forced to escape their nation for their lives, Hasina in her interview said that her nation was already struggling to take care of its 160 million population and that her nation could not provide a permanent refuge for the Rohingyas.
“I cannot take any other burden,” Hasina said. “My country cannot bear.”
Though Myanmar and Bangladesh had agreed to begin the repatriation process within two months in November 2017, the process could not take place.
The two governments have been accusing each other of delaying the process. Hasina told: “They [Myanmar] agree on everything, but unfortunately they do not act, that is the problem”.
