My brother was innocent: Muslim youths are forced to die to escape police atrocities

Despite restoration of normalcy in Madannapet area, police is chasing Muslim youths. Syed Ghouse (26 alias Mujeeb Mujju) wanted to escape from the cruelty of the police. When police came to his house for arresting him, he jumped over the wall and fell into the water sump which was covered with a tin shed. He died on the spot. Mujju’s sister told that he was innocent. He used to help everyone in the locality. He was a taxi driver. When police detected that those who kept beef in temples are the Hindus, where is the justification for the police to arrest the innocent Muslims?

Mujju’s family members told that a case to attempt murder should be registered against the police officers who went to his house to arrest him. Mujju got married in a simple was recently. His wife is pregnant. No one came to his help so far.

The social activists organizations of the city are irritated on the sad demise of Muslim youth Faisal. The angry social organizations complain that police is resroting to hostile treatment with the Muslim youths.

Vexed up with police excesses, social organizations like Movement for Peace and Justice and Help Hyderabad approached Human Rights Commission and gave the details of police atrocities. On giving a patient hearing to the representatives of these organizations, the commission ordered DGP and City Police Commissioner to submit a detailed report on the death of Faisal.

Mr. Hamid Mohammed Khan President of Movement for Peace and Justice and Major Syed Ghouse Mohiuddin Quadri, President of Help Hyderabad told that in order to save themselves from the atrocities of police, the Muslim youths are preferring to meet death.

What else could be the example of the police cruelty than the incident of Faisal’s death, who jumped from a height to save himself from the clutches of police?

Discrimination in dealing with communal riot cases is causing the feeling of insecurity among the Muslim Community. They referred to a case of Muslim youth. After arresting him, police leveled serious charges against him. He was booked under terrorist activities and was sent to jail where he had to undergo severe punishment.

The inefficiency of the police is causing anxiety among the Muslim community and there exists angry feelings against police machinery. Criticizing the partisan attitude of the police, they said that police is sympathetic towards the Hindus whereas its behaviour with the Muslims is hostile. They said that due to the narrow-mindedness of a few anti-Muslim police officers, the entire department of police is getting a bad name which results in creating division in the society which amounts to violation of the constitution of India. Muslim youths are being arrested after breaking the doors of their houses whereas police is sympathetic towards Hindus.

He demanded the higher officials of the police to maintain impartiality in arresting the people. There should be transparency in their actions. The names and the crimes of the accused should be displayed on website so that the police should not implicate the same person in another case. They told the State Govt. that if it wants to eradicate the sense of insecurity among the Muslim Community, it should bind the police and issue instructions to act Judiciously.
