Minority Welfare Department has sent a budget proposal of 1236 Cr to the government for the year 2016-17. Government had directed the Minority Welfare Department to present budget proposal with new schemes. The government has given top priority to 60 residential schools for minorities in the next budget. The minority welfare budget was 1130 Cr during 2015-16 and the government has decided to increase it next year.
According to reliable sources Secretary Minority Welfare has prepared a budget proposal of 1236 Cr. after seeking suggestions from chiefs of various Minority institutions which will be presented to the government. The government directed the Minority Welfare to scrap such schemes which are continued for namesake.
Meanwhile Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali has called a meeting of chiefs of Minority Institutions on Tuesday in which the performance of all the institutions will be reviewed.
