MVI caught with assets worth Rs 1.70 crore

Hyderabad, January 12: A motor vehicle inspector (MVI) from Khammam district was caught with illegal assets worth over Rs 1.70 crore in the searches conducted by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Tuesday.

The searches were held at Venna Nageswara Rao ‘s residences and his relatives at Khammam, Vijayawada, East Godavari and Visakhapatnam districts. Nageswara Rao was found in possession of 10 flats (nine in Vijayawada and one in Hyderabad), six plots (five in Paloncha in Khammam and one at Ramachandrapuram in East Godavari), insurance policies worth Rs 23.63 lakh, 340 gm gold worth Rs 7.45 lakh, 870 gm silver worth Rs 20,000, bank balance of Rs 20 lakh and household articles worth Rs 3 lakh.
