Muzaffarnagar is on the boil again as the ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) worker committed suicide after the accuses circulated the rape video.
Hundreds of angry Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) and residents of Chhapra village blocked the national highway in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.
The protestors demanded Rs 20 lakh compensation for the family, a government job for her husband, life insurance for other ASHA workers and capital punishment for the accused in the case.
It is to be noted that the 40-year-old married gangrape victim allegedly committed suicide after a video clip of the act recorded by the rapists was circulated by them on a social media messaging application.
The ASHA workers ran the house as her husband is bedridden. The woman was allegedly gangraped by four persons on Sunday who also made a video of the act.
An FIR has been registered against the accused in the case, police said, adding that efforts were on to nab them.
