Muzaffarnagar: Six people were injured after a clash broke out between two groups of different communities over eve-teasing of a girl, police said.
The two groups started pelting stones at each other after the eve-teasing came to light, injuring six persons, they said.
Security was tightened in the area after the clash. The situation is under control, superintendent of police (city) Santosh Kumar said. One youth has been arrested for allegedly eve-teasing the girl, he said.
According to reports, 4 days ago a girl was allegedly molested. Inspector-general of police Navneet Sikera asked Muzaffarnagar police to take strict action against eve teasers and girl was hold in the police station.
Angry over the girl taken into the police station, a mob gathered near police station and pelted the stone.
“Our girl was molested and yet it was she who was taken to the police station, while no action was taken against the accused, who still remain at large,” one of the agitators alleged.
It is to be noted that an incident of alleged eve teasing had snowballed into the deadly communal riots of 2013 in Muzaffarnagar, which had claimed 61 lives.
