Muzaffarnagar Riots Cases: SIT’s double standard exposed

Muzaffarnagar: Muzaffarnagar riots were the result of 3 killing incidents one after another. The riots were triggered when Shahnawaz Qureshi allegedly harassed a woman from the Jat community. The woman’s brothers – Sachin and Gaurav – brutally murdered Shahnawaz on 27 August 2013.

It retaliation Shahnawaz brothers and the angry mob killed Sachin and Gaurav. A fake video of another mob lynching, circulated by a local BJP legislator, added fuel to the fire of communal riots.

Six accused in Shahnawaz Qureshi’s murder case were let off for lack of evidence. And SIT has filed a closure report in the murder case of Shahnawaz Qureshi, despite the fact that Shahnawaz Qureshi’s family has claimed that there is strong evidence against the six accused. On the contrary, the counter-case filed by Sachin and Gaurav’s family against Shahnawaz Qureshi’s family is in its final stages in the lower court.
