Hyderabad: A chargesheet has been filed against Yousufain Dargah mutawali Mohammed Faisal Ali Shah and nine others by City Central Crime Station (CCS) sleuths. They have been accused of swindling crores of rupees and selling burial site for Rs 1 lakh each to people.
TOI has quoted CCS inspector D Raj Kumar as saying, “We filed the chargesheet in the court of the 12th additional chief metropolitan magistrate at Nampally on Wednesday and are awaiting the allotment of case number.”
Police further stated that Faisal, with the help of his supporters, ruled the place as his personal property and exercised authority over the legal occupants of the waqf property from 1989 to 2013 till the government terminated his services. He sold burial sites to interested people by charging more than Rs 1 lakh for burying bodies inside the Dargah and Rs 50,000 for burying the dead in the burial ground outside the Dargah. People were said to have booked the burial sites in advance fearing shortage of space in future.
The Dargah sprawling over six acres houses 121 shops and 104 residential structures. The remaining space is for burial ground.
Faisal Shah also allegedly collected Rs 1.54 crore as extortion money in the name of pagdi from the tenants. He had deposited only Rs 82,912 for five years in the official bank account, out of Rs 20 lakh per annum received from rents.
