Muslim leaders, intellectuals, politicians and Muslim organizations who were actively participating in Telangana Movement, welcomed the decision taken by Union Cabinet for the formation of separate Telangana State and said that it is “late than never”. Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan, Managing Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily, Nawab Mahboob Alam Khan, Secretary of Anwar-ul-Uloom Education Society, Prof. Mohammed Ansari, Head of the Dept. of Linguistics, OU, Mr. Syed Tariq Quadri, former member of AP State Minorities Commission, Mr. Muneeruddin Mujahid, Mr. Mushtaaq Malik, Mr. Raheemullah Khan Niyazi (TRS), Mr. Khalid Rasool Khan, Major Syed Ghouse Mohiuddin Quadri (Help Hyderabad), Mr. Inayath Ali Baqueri, Mr. MA Basith, Mr. Sanaullah Khan, Advocate, Mr. Abdul Quadir Quadri, Maualana Syed Hamid Husain Suttari, Mr. Shahbaaz Ali Khan and others in a joint statement applauded the decision of the Union Cabinet and said that it is an important step for the eradication of injustices meted out to the Muslim community for the past 6 decades by the Andhra rulers.
These leaders have also thanked Ms. Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson of UPA and Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India that they have taken this wise decision keep in mind the wishes of 4.5 crore people of Telangana and hoped that the Muslims of this region would get justice and all the injustices done to Muslim community during the past 6 decades will be eradicated. They also hoped that during the Telangana struggle, whatever promises were made to the Muslims would be fulfilled. These leaders reminded Mr. K. Chandrashekara Rao, President of TRS that he had promised to give 12% reservations to the Muslims and also appoint Deputy C.M. from Muslim community. Now the time has come for him to fulfill all these promises in the proposed Telangana State.
