Kakinada, July 07: Union Minister of State for Defence MM Pallam Raju on Tuesday urged members of the Muslim community to come forward and better their lives by availing the various welfare schemes initiated by the Central and State government for their benefit.
Mr Raju also said that Muslims should strive for progress in the education sector and thus contribute to nation building.
The Union Minister of State for Defence was addressing the gathering at a function organised by members of the Muslim community to felicitate him at the ‘Mecca Madina Shadikhana’.
Mr Raju reminded that the Justice Sachar Committee report had said that the community lagged behind the other communities in the country in the educational sector. The Minister said that the only way this disparity could be removed was for the community to rise up as a whole and strive to educate its future generations.
This can be done by making sure of sending every child to schools, he said. Mr Raju said that care should be taken to ensure that Muslim girls are also sent to school.
