Inspired by the Maratha community’s ‘mook morcha’ on quota issue, Muslims in Maharashtra’s Latur and Ahmednagar on Tuesday turned up in huge numbers to stage a ‘silent protest’ demanding five per cent reservation in education and jobs.
The Muslim morchas were held at Ausa in Latur district and at Rahuri and Rahata in Ahmednagar district. The community has previously carried out similar rallies in Thane and Nashik also.
Participants of the morcha held placards which stated: “We want reservation”.
Leaders belonging to the Other Backward Class (OBC) and volunteers form the Maratha community lent support to the Muslim morchas.
