Muslims, ST reservation percentage will be increased: CM

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday said that the State Government proposes to increase the percentage of reservations to Tribals and minorities in Telangana State.

Replying to a question raised by MLAs S. Venkata Veeraiah, R Krishanaiah and others during Question Hour in Legislative Assembly, the Chief Minister informed that separate Commissions of Inquiry have been constituted on March 3, 2015, to study the proposals. While the Commission of Inquiry for Scheduled Tribes has been assigned the task to study and prepare a comprehensive report on the relative increase of ST population in the State and their social and economic backwards, another Commission of Inquiry has been asked to study Socio-Economic and Educational conditions of Muslims and to recommend steps for reservations.

“The decision on percentage will be taken at appropriate time and will be decided based on the report of Commission of Inquiry. The work of Commission of Inquiry is going on briskly,” the Chief Minister said.

The term of both the Commissions is coming to an end on March 31 this year and the reports are awaited, he said. (INN)
