Tehran, June 06: Iran’s minister of culture and Islamic guidance has urged Muslims not pay attention to Western media hype as it aims to sow the seeds of discord.
Mohammad Hosseini said on Sunday Western media are constantly seeking to drive a wedge between Muslim communities, calling on Muslims to turn a blind eye to their propaganda campaigns and settle issues through cooperation and rapport.
He said Muslims across the world can have a better situation if they maintain unity and not allow foreign countries to interfere in their affairs, reported IRNA.
The minister made the remarks in a meeting with foreign guests who had attended ceremonies marking the anniversary of the passing away of Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“Imam Khomeini had instilled such courage and self-confidence into people in the country, especially the younger generation, that despite all hardships and the eight-year holy defense [against the former Iraqi regime, they] bravely stood up to different sanctions and threats, and kept satanic powers and the hands of hegemony from reaching their goals,” the culture minister underlined.
“Today, threats and sanctions by the enemy have not only not decreased, but increased as well, so the Iranian nation, with the same morale that Imam [Khomeini] instilled into them, are standing up to all difficulties and problems, defending their ideals and religious beliefs, and foiling enemy plots and threats one after the other,” the minister explained.
He then touched upon the recent developments and Islamic awakening in the Middle East, urging the regional nations to press ahead with their movement and not allow hegemonic powers to capitalize on the situation.
