General Secretary of A.P. Congress, Mr. Abid Rasool Khan met Mr. N.Kiran Kumar Reddy, C.M. of A.P. and represented that Muslims should also be given adequate share in the land allotments. Govt. has announced the sixth phase of land allotment to be started on 3rd November.
Mr. Abid Rasool Khan met the C.M. and Revenue Minister, Mr. N.Raghuveera Reddy and requested them to distribute lands to the poor Muslims also. He expressed his anxiety for neglecting the Muslims in land allotments made earlier. He pointed out that lakhs of acres of lands was distributed to landless poor but the Muslims were not given even 1% of the total land distributed. He demanded that whatever injustice has been done in five phases of land allotments, should be completed in the sixth phase.
Mr. Abid Rasool Khan pointed out that Sachar Committee and Mishra Commission have declared the Muslims more backward than the other weaker sections and recommended to take appropriate measures to improve their economic condition by taking concrete steps. He said that the Muslims have played a key role in getting back Congress to power. It is, therefore, necessary that the Muslims should get there due share in all the government schemes.
In 15 Point Programme of the Prime Minister also recommendation have been made to take necessary steps for the development of the Muslims.
He told that the Chief Minister and Revenue Minister have assured him that they would consider his demands sympathetically.
