Mr. Dinesh Amin Mattu, the media advisor to Karnataka chief minister, speaking on the annual award ceremony of Muslim Lekhakara Sangha said that people of backward classes, dalits and Muslims have become puppets in the hands of powerful people in the country, here at Town Hall on February 28.
Mr. Dinesh, former journalist said that the seeds of disharmony between AHINDA (minorities, backward classes and dalits) communities have always been used in order to suppress them.
He said that though Indian democracy believes in equality and equal rights for all the citizens, in the current scenario, it’s foundation is that of inequality and social injustice.
He said that the aim of Indian democracy will be fulfilled only when all sections of society will find have representatives in all fields including literature. Therefore, the suppressed and oppressed sections of the society should voice their demands through literature.
Mr. Dinesh, said that Muslims have become victims of policy of appeasement and hatred politics, inspite of being the majority ‘minority community’.
“The Muslims are the most misunderstood lot in the society. It is very difficult to clear misconceptions about Muslims in the society because their clarifications are not heeded. There is no attempt to know their reality”, he complained.
Criticizing demonization of Muslim leaders, he said that Maulana Abul Kalam Azad along with Mahatma Gandhi was not in favour of partition of India, even though Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had agreed to seperate the country.
The multi cultural society of Dakshina Kannada has been misused to create a gap between communities by communal forces, he further added.
Writer Mariam Ismaeel was conferred with ‘Muslim Sahitya Prashasti-2012’, which is an annual prize instituted by the Sangha for upcoming Muslim writers. Ms Ismaeel’s play ‘Maduve Market’(Wedding Market) was the award winning work. 86-year-old Abdul Kareem Davangere was awarded with ‘Senior Muslim Litterateur’ award on the occasion.Courtesy:Karnataka Muslims
