Muslims renovate 500-year-old ‘Hanuman’ temple to establish communal harmony

Ahmedabad: Presenting example of communal harmony, Muslims in Ahmedabad renovated a temple in their area.

This comes at a time, when the two communities are locked in a bitter legal battle over Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid dispute.

Moin Memon, a Muslim in Ahmedabad, has undertaken renovation of a 500-year-old Hanuman temple. Memon has been dedicating his time to the renovation of a local Hanuman temple in Hanuman Gali of Mirzapur area of the walled city of Ahmedabad.

“I contacted the priest and offered to renovate it. He happily agreed saying ‘Hanuman Dada’ must have inspired to renovate the temple, so you start the work without worrying about the money,” said Memon.

The 43-year-old builder personally oversees workers fixing saffron Italian tiles on the temple’s facade. In an area dominated by Muslims, such an initiative is expected to resolve the communal tension between two communities.
