Muslims offer prayer under scorching sun at Shamsabad airport

It must be recalled that Masjid-e-Omer Farooq was demolished in 2007 during the construction of the Shamsabad airport. The mosque, built in 1982, was located on about 500 sq yards, a part of 5,500 acres area acquired by the government for building the RGI airport. On one hand the masjid was demolished and on the other hand it is not allowed to set up tents at the temporary prayer place. Musallis are forced to offer prayer under the scorching sun in the parking lot.

Musallis face difficulty in performing prayer especially on Friday where a large number of Muslims gather for prayer. Musallis told Siasat correspondent that the number of musallis has shrunk because of scorching heat and unavailability of shelter.

Chief minister, government and even the Congress sycophants are indulged in criminal negligence regarding the issue. Leaders like Mohammed Ahmedullah, Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Khaleequr Rahman, Abid Rasool Khan, Sirajuddin, S K Afzaluddin and others should make representation with the chief minister for setting up permanent tents and construction of Masjid instead of making lofty claims.
