The district administration had ordered all the business establishments in the city to shut down their shutters by 8 PM. paying heed to this order, Ibrahim closed his shop early and was on his way home when he was stabbed. The accused were seen to have fled towards the Bibi Alabi road after stabbing him.
The District Administration held a meeting subsequent to the peace committee meeting and decided that the prohibitory order under Section 144 CrPC would continue till 8 ‘o’ clock in the morning. Further in view of the Ganesha festival, a decision will be taken to relax the situation on 23rd of August.
The Muslims of Mangalore feel that the mischief mongers seem to be successful with their intentions of preventing Muslims from offering the special prayers of Ramzan. These special prayers are known as Taravi and are performed between 8 PM to 10 PM every night throughout the month of Ramzan. But unfortunately, the imposition of 144 from 8 PM has disallowed the Muslims to offer this prayer.
