All India Muslim Minorities Organization (AIMMO) on Saturday demanded that special care should be taken for the welfare of Muslims in Telangana State, as they constituted significant percentage in the population of the new State.
Speaking to the media here, AIMMO leaders M A Siddiqui, Muqthar Hussain, Sana Ulla Khan and Syed Ayub said that education should be ensured to the Muslims free of cost in the Telangana State. In proportion to their population, quota should be provided to the Muslims in employment opportunities, they added.
They urged the political parties to give seats to the Muslims in the coming elections and increase the representation of Muslims in Legislative bodies in proportion to their population.
“More subsidies and incentives should be extended to the sick industries and steps should be taken to encourage entrepreneurs to set up small scale industries”, they demanded. They said that the Centre and State Governments should allocate special budget for the welfare of the Muslims. (NSS)
