Muslims should join hands with Dalits and Adivasis to fight injustice: Maulana Mahmood Madani

Ahmadabad/Godhra: Jamiat Ulama Hind’s general secretary Maulana Mahmood Madani while referring to injustice meted out to Dalits, Adivasis and Muslims in the country has expressed need to establish united struggle of all the oppressed.

Delivering key address in Jamiat Ulama Gujarat general session held at Godhra on Sunday , Maulana Mahmood Madani, an influential Muslim leader, said “We accept that Muslims are worst victim of communal politics, but they are not alone, but we see similar treatment with Dalits and Adivasis too.

There are many tribes in the country who have to live on leaves of trees for even and 3 months. If we fight individually and do not forge unity with other victims, we can never defeat oppressors”. Citing several reasons, Maulana Madani announced that Muslims shoud fight for rights of adviasis and Dalits adding that a true Muslim can never bear pain of others.

In a general session that pulled huge crowd, biggest ever after Godhra riots 14 years back, Maulana Mahmood Madani while reacting to those who ask certificate of patriotism, cited his own diologue that “We are Indians by choice not by chance” maintaining that India is our country, our nation. “We have sacrificed for the country twice, once when our ancestors fought for freedom of the country and again when we chose to stay in India preferring over a country made in the name of Islam. Warning against trend of hate in response of hate, Maulana Mahmood Madani who is regarded a moderate Muslim leader, said fire can’t extinguish fire. Hate “in response of hate is a negative method that boomerang on.”

Speaking on tolerance and composite nationalism, Maulana Mahmood Madani said that in India our role models are Auliaya Allah like Khawja Moeenuddin Chishti and Nizamuddin Auliya. Moenuddin Chisti in Ajmer was called Gharib Nawaz (benefactor to poor) who dropped meat from his food table just for that someone vegetarian is sitting with him. That kind of tolerance and sacrifice should be role model for Muslims, invoked Maulana Madani.

While addressing to the young generation of the Muslim community, Maulana Madani said that we just ca’nt sit on mere demanding reservation but we have to be qualified enough to gain place in the world. He said how a community can get developed whose youths get awake in the morning on a time when people in the developed country complete half of their work.

Speaking on the occasion, Sawami Agnivesh, coming down heavily on Sangh parivar and its mentality asked on what basis they question other’s patriotism, can Mohan Bhagwat tell me any person of his group who scarified for freedom of the country? He went on step further by saying that he believes they can never give us a name for this but he is sure to find among them agent of the imperial force.

Besides him, Mujtaba Faruq leader of Jamaate Islami Hind questioned the government’s dual policies in the arrest of youth in the name of terrorism. Gujarat scholar Maulana Mahmood Barduly, Maulana Rafiq Mazahiri, Professor Nisar Ahmed Ansari, Maulana, Maulana Hakeemuddin Qasmi, Maulana Abdul Moeed Qasmi, Maulana Khalil Deva, Mumtaz Alam Rizvi, Professor Nisar Ahmed Ansari, Maulana Athar Mumbai and others also spoke to the gathering.
