Prime Minister Narendra Modi has finally granted his first ever international interview in office to CNN International’s show Fareed Zakaria GPS since assuming office.
“Indian Muslims will live for India and die for India. Al Qaeda delusional to think Indian Muslims will dance to its tunes,” Modi told CNN.
When asked despite having a 170 million Muslims, there is almost no Al-Qaeda presence in a country,
To this, Modi said, “ this is a crisis against humanity, not a crisis against one country or one race. So we have to frame this as a fight between humanity and inhumanity. Nothing else”.
Modi’s historic US visit is scheduled for later in September, emphasized on the ties shared by the two countries. Modi was optimistic that the ties have taken a new shape in the 21st century.
“I am confident that India and US can develop genuine strategic alliance,” he said.
He added,” The Indo-US ties should not be seen within the limits of Delhi and Washington: Both the countries realise that their ties are in a much larger sphere.”
The interview with Fareed Zakaria was recorded at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Delhi on the 13th of September. It is scheduled to be put on air on the 21st of September.
