Many Muslims of Bhumma village in Muzaffarnagar were forced to take refuge in a mosque on Monday after it was surrounded by angry villagers who were protesting for the killing of a Hindu youth of that village. Police rescued the Muslims on Tuesday afternoon after dispersing the mob by resorting to lathicharge and by firing shots in the air.
The incident took place on Monday night after four motorcyclists allegedly shot Satveer (25) outside his house in Bhumma. Immediately, a large number of Hindus assembled outside the victim’s house to protest police negligence. Although three policemen were posted in the area but they failed to arrest the assailants. The murder took place in their presence. Later, these policemen were suspended for their inaction.
Police arrested Yaqub and Monu and massive hunt is in progress to arrest the remaining two who are said to be the assailants of Satveer.
State Government announced a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh from CMs relief fund and a jobs has been promised to Arjun, the younger brother of the of deceased.
