Muslims fearful of VHP’s proposed ‘Dharam Sabha’; dread 1992 like situation

Ayodhya: Describing the proposed ‘Dharam Sabha’ of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) as a possible threat to the life and property of Muslim community, the main litigant in the Babri Masjid dispute Iqbal Ansari has asked the government to ensure the security of minority community.

Mr Ansari told that VHP has decided to organise ‘Dharam Sabha’ on November 25. VHP claims that it is working to mobilise over 100,000 people for the rally at Bada Bhaktmal ki Bagiya.

Mr Ansari said it is not right to give permission of such a big programme in the sensitive district, while the case of the disputed site is pending with the court. He said speculating such a large congregation of Ram devotees, Muslims are feeling themselves insecure. It must be recalled that a similar programme was held in 1992 when the Babri Masjid was demolished. We do not want a repetition of the 1992 incident, he said.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) is preparing to stage a show of strength in Ayodhya on 25th of this month, seeking to exert pressure on the Centre to introduce a legislation that will clear the way for the construction of a Ram temple on the disputed site.
