Muslims of Cholas served sherbet to Ram Leela devotees before beginning Moharram Majlis

Dussehra of Cholas village of Ghaziabad is an example of communal harmony for the entire country. Cholas village which is nearly 20 Kms from Ghaziabad has a population of 9000 comprising of 80% Muslims. The village celebrated Ram Leela and the Moharram simultaneously. There was no police bandobast required as the timings of the Majlis was changed by mutual understanding of both the groups.

People who were preparing for Moharram Majlis welcomed Ram procession and offered the devotees water and sherbet.

Mohammed Irfan of told, Shia community walks shoulder to shoulder with Ram leela devotees. Vinod Sharma chairman Ram leela committee echoed his thoughts saying we are completely in harmony with each other. ‘We have been organizing Ram Leela for 40 to 45 years but these people not only cooperate with us but also give donations. Clashes never happened’, he said.

Last year Moharram procession and Ram Leela was taken out on the same day. Muslims let the Hindus take out Ram Leela then they took Moharram procession. This year also they first welcomed the Ram Leela procession then began their Majlis.
