Hyderabad, February 13: General Muslims don’t recognize the importance and benefits of enumeration that’s why they don’t take any interest in it. When the enumerators reach our houses we don’t give them any importance and answer them reluctantly. When they ask them about our families we feel apprehensive as to why they require our personal information? So we answer their questions unwillingly and keep most of the facts undisclosed. However what we don’t realize is that policies are formulated on the basis of statistics and unfortunately our evil-wishers know it very well.
There is always a complaint that enumerators either conceal the facts or record incorrect information, especially regarding Muslims. This time complaint has been received that Hindi is being written in the column ‘mother tongue’ instead of Urdu.
Siasat daily received some telephone calls on Saturday in which it has been complaint that enumerators are writing Hindi in ‘mother tongue’ column despite being told to write Urdu.
In the light of above complaints supervision is needed on the locality level for census enumeration process and local organizations should assign some coordinators for the assistance of enumerators so that they go house to house making general Muslims aware of the benefits of enumeration and ensure accurate enrollment.
