NEW DELHI: Inspired by Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad ‘Fake Babas’ list, All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) decided to act against ‘Fake Muslim clerics.’
Speaking to News18, Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahali, executive member of AIMPLB, said these days a lot of ‘fake’ Muslim clerics are appearing on TV channels with little knowledge of Islam and Sharia.
“These days we see a lot of clerics who do have any credential. All they do is wear a skull cap, grow a beard and sit on television debates. Such people bring bad name to the entire community as they do not have any knowledge of Islam and Sharia,” said the maulana.
“I will soon submit a proposal to AIMPLB to act against these people. I would also like to suggest that the board authorizes clerics to speak on television and other debates. This will certainly keep a check on the ‘fake clerics’ going about their way,” he added.

Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, the apex body of Hindu sadhus, had released a list of 14 self proclaimed godmen “fake babas” and demanded a crackdown on “rootless cult leaders” by bringing in legislation.
The development comes close on the heels of a CBI court in Haryana sentencing self-styled godmen, Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim to 20 years in prison for the rape of two of his former Sadhvis (female disciples).
