Muslim teacher who protected Christians in Kenya’s terror attack, dies

Salah Sadbow Farah, a primary school teacher, has died in hospital a month after he was shot while protecting Christians during a Kenyan terror attack by Al Shabaab militants. Farah had been undergoing surgery in a Nairobi hospital to treat the bullet wound he sustained during the attack.

During the attack, members of Al Shabaab group attempted to separate Christian bus passengers from Muslim passengers – Al Shabaab has typically spared Muslims who cooperate during attacks in the area.

According to news published in Kenya’s Daily Nation, Mr Farah told that several men from the bus confronted the gunmen on the roadside while Muslim women shared their hijabs with non-Muslim passengers, defying the gunmen’s attempts to separate the group.

Farah also told that “We asked them to kill all of us or leave us alone. As we argued, they shot me and the boy”.

Farah had been undergoing surgery of the bullet wound he sustained during the attack. He died today of complications from the wound.
