Muslim Scholars organise conference on protecting Non-Muslims

Morocco is the place decided to organize a summit by hundreds of Muslim Scholars next week to relax the rights of Non-Muslims living amongst them.

Shaykh Hamza Yousuf co-founder of Zaytuna College, the first Muslim liberal arts college in U.S, said its time Muslims must get firm on their tradition’s true teachings on tolerance.

The conference will hark back to The Charter Of Medina in which Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) listed the rights of non-Muslims 1400 years ago. The meet is expected to be attended by more than 300 Muslim scholars from around the world.

On Thursday 21 Jan in a pre-conference media call Shaikh Yousuf said “The prophet was religiously persecuted, so he knew firsthand what it was to experience religious persecution”

Shaikh Yousuf is a student of Shaykh Bin Bayyah, a Islamic Scholar from Mauritia. Bin Bayyah will be a leading spiritual voice in the conference. He also heads a forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies.

Imam Mohammad Majid, Executive director of All Dulles Area Muslim Society said “The most important point about the declaration is the fact that muslim scholars are addressing this issue from within the tradition of Islam”
