Muslim reservation extended for 10 more years

Hyderabad, May 20: The state government has extended reservations to the BCs and Muslim minorities in education and employment fields for 10 more years.

BC Welfare Department has issued GO MS 9, dated March 17, 2011 in this connection. As per the GO the reservation facilities for backward classes categories A,B,C,D and E will be continued for 10 more years.

Muslim minorities are listed under BC E category and the implementation of 4 percent reservation would be subject to the order of Supreme Court in pending case.

In a G O signed by Principal Secretary BC Welfare Hiralal Samaria it is stated that the government has decided to extend the reservation facilities to 5 categories of backward classes in education and recruitment. Separate quota will be continued for these sections in educational institutions. Apart from that they will be allotted separate seats in recruitment of posts and will be provided age concession of 5 years.

These facilities will continue for 10 more years with effect from June 1, 2011.

It must be recalled that Muslim reservation case is pending in Supreme Court and the court is hearing the case, while giving permission to continue implementation of reservations.
