Muslims of Telangana state are striving for reviving their lost glory and to write a new history. Muslims have a very low representation on high posts. Governments made the Muslims backwards while the Muslim leadership filled the remaining gap. Muslims holding political posts, Muslim leadership and Muslim government officers are responsible for this. Most of their funds are spent on mushairas and literary programmes. Government’s new policy is to hold Iftar parties and distribute clothes during Ramadan in contrast to that 80 percent subsidy scheme was introduced for SC community with a budget of Rs. 150 Cr in Rangareddy district alone, while Muslims on government posts failed to propose such scheme for Muslims.
A new scheme driver cum owner scheme has been introduced for Muslims under which 50 % subsidy is provided for owning auto rickshaws. This shows that it is deliberate effort to restrict unemployed Muslim youth to auto stands and rickshaws. Muslim government officers, Muslim leaders holding political posts, whatever political party they belong to, either do not have guts to oppose any government scheme or to propose a constructive scheme for Muslims or they themselves don’t want the unemployed youth of the community to get employment opportunities and become self dependent.
Injustice is meted out towards minorities in providing subsidy in self employment scheme also. If government is sincere in promotion of minorities it should implement scheme for minorities on par with SCs. Government had promised to provide 12% reservations to Muslims but the same was not fulfilled till date. Release of budget is also in very slow pace. Promotion of Muslims would be possible only if the schemes prepared for SCs, STs and BCs are implemented for minorities too.
