Bhopal, October 13: The Congress in Madhya Pradesh today alleged that names of many Muslims were being deleted from the voters’ list for the civic polls in the state.
State Congress Media Committee chairman Aslam Sher Khan told reporters that there were apprehensions that the ruling BJP might indulge in malpractices to win the November elections.
Government should ensure that the polls would be held in a free and fair manner. In many areas, names of Muslims were being deleted from the voters lists as it was thought that they would never vote for the BJP, he alleged.
Aslam, a former hockey Olympian said that names of 1,260 Muslims had been deleted from the voters list in ward number 20 in Bhopal. Similar complaints had also been received from other parts of the state, including Indore and Ujjain.
