An incident of cheating came to limelight in which a minister, an MP and an MLA were cheated to the tune of Rs. 20 crore.
According to reliable sources in the outskirts of the city the famous real estate company walmart was to establish its office on the land belonging to a Minster. A Muslim MP and an MLA alongwith his companions gave Rs. 20 crore to a real estate agent.
He kept this money with him for a long time. It was presumed that this amount was meant to be invested in films industry or in the manufacture of wine. The investors had given their consent for such investments also. The business, however could not be taken off. Gauging the wrath of the investors, the agent started giving interest at the rate of 4%.
He continued paying interest for about a year and then, he stopped payments and suddenly disappeared. Vexed up with this, the MP took possession of the property. Seeing this situation another politician took possession of some portion of this property.
The MLA was worried about the amounts he had invested. It is estimated that the amount invested by MP is more than that of the MLA. These smart politicians fell prey to an agent who duped them. He is absconding. It is a well known fact that the politicians don’t declare their actual income in the I.T. returns they file. At the time of their filling nominations in Parliament or Assembly also they quote wrong figures of their income.
They are placed in a situation where they can’t even lodge a police complaint which may prove cancerous for them. They can’t disclose this to anyone. When these leaders wanted to usurp these properties, it was revealed that these have already been mortgaged with banks for drawing heavy loans.
