Satpuli: Uttarakhand’s town Satpuli gripped communal tensions on Sunday afternoon when RSS workers and other right-wing activists damaged vegetable shop of the 15-year-old boy’s family. The boy had allegedly shared a post which was considered ‘offensive’ by the RSS activists.
According to an eyewitness, several right-wing activists attacked the shop and burnt the vegetable boxes kept there while shouting pro-Hindu slogans. “They were also searching for the vegetable vendor who had fled the shop,” said the eyewitness, reports HT.
Satpuli town has no background of communal tensions and it remained tense throughout Sunday afternoon. However, the police reached the scene to take control of the situation. “Four to five Muslim families have been living in the town for long without any incident of communal violence,” the SP said.
In a video filmed by an eyewitness, an RSS worker said that they would continue the stir until the culprit was arrested.
On Sunday evening an FIR was filed against the minor in the Satpuli police station by one Jagdamba Dangwal. The FIR was filed under Section 295 (a) of the IPC (for a deliberate act to outrage religious feelings) and Section 66A of the Information Technology (IT) Act (for “offensive” post online), Station Officer of Satpuli police station Rakender Kathait said.
