Muslim leader moves HC against NBW

Allahabad, May 16: Islamic scholar Zakir Naik today moved the Allahabad High Court challenging a non-bailable warrant issued against him by a court at Jhansi in a case of incitement of communal passions.

In the petition, which is likely to be taken up for hearing later this week, Naik has challenged the May 12 order of Jhansi Additional District and Sessions court which issued a non-bailable warrant against him after he failed to appear before the court despite several summonses.

The court had also directed Naik, the president of Mumbai- based Islamic Research Foundation, to appear before it on June 1.

Naik was accused of distributing pamphlets, which could incite communal passions, in Jhansi recently.
