Muslim intellectuals deliberates on common issues

Noted Social Activists and Chairman of A.P. State Minorities Commission, Mr. Abid Rasool Khan invited 30 Muslim intellectuals to dinner on 4th June in Hyderabad. The purpose of this meeting to discuss a strategy to get the issues of the Muslims resolved by political parties making use of the occasion of General Elections to be held in 2014. Maulana Syed Jalal Uddin Umari, Ameer Jamat-e- Islami of India and Vice President of Muslim Personal Law Board participated in the meeting as the guest of honour. Mr. Mahmood Ali, MLC of TRS was also present in the meeting. The Muslim intellectuals deliberated on various issues the Muslims are facing. It was decided to form Non- Political pressure group taking at least one Muslim intellectual from each district to suggest steps to be taken up for fulfilling these objectives.

Mr. Khalid Rasool Khan told that such a group of Muslims has been formed under the title Muslim United Vote Committee recently which will make an attempt to consolidate Muslim votes. Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Syed Mazher Hussain, Executive Director of COVA told that there are 29 constituencies in the State where the Muslim population between 30 and 80 percent. Mr. Abid Rasool Khan told that his main objective is to work for the welfare of Muslim Community. Maulana Jalal Uddin Umari told that Jamat-e-Islami of India will not hesitate to extend its cooperation to any serious non-political organisartion.
