Muslim front demands reservation

Andhra Pradesh Muslim Reservation Front has demanded the Central government to implement the Ranganath Mishra Commission report by making necessary constitutional amendments and laws in the Parliament to provide 10 percent separate reservation for backward classes of Muslim.

In a press release, front state president Mohd. Iftekharuddin Ahmed also demanded the State government to include all the 14 existing groups of backward Muslims under BC-E category of the state, into the central list of OBCs, and recommend it to the National Commission for Backward Classes.

Failure to do this clearly indicates that the congress government is hurting the feelings of the Muslims in the name of reservation from time to time. The Mishra Commission report was tabled in the Parliament last year but no debate has taken place so far for the implementation of its recommendations.

It was most unfortunate that AP High Court has struck down the Reservation for the Muslims. Reservation to Minorities was provided based on their backwardness and not on the basis of religion. The Sub-quota was meant for equitable distribution of benefits amongst communities concerned.

The government had been reckless in the way it presented its case in the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The HC clearly said that the Assistant Solicitor General did not submit the data before the court which could prove the backwardness of the community, which shows the government did not do its job properly.
