Muslim Forum Demands Gehlot’s Dismissal

Jaipur, September 22: Alleging the Rajasthan government is incapable of handling cases of atrocities against minorities, a Muslim forum today demanded sacking of the Chief Minister and the Home Minister.

Representatives of the forum alleged members of the minority community were the only victims of recent Gopalgarh violence in Bharatpur.

“Gehlot is an inactive Chief Minister and we will meet the Congress leadership and demand his and Home Minister Shanti Dhariwal’s sacking,” Engineer Salim, a representative of the Rajasthan Muslim Forum, told a press conference here.

“Only Muslims were targeted in the firing,” he said.

“It was not a clash. It is a planned police attack on Muslims in which nine members of the community were killed. But the government is not fixing responsibility,” Salim said.

A 10-member team of the CPI-M also visited violence-hit areas in Bharatpur and held the district administration responsible for the incident.

“It was not a clash between the two communities, but between police and one community,” a party release said.
