For gaining power, unity is the basis but it is very regrettable that despite constituting 89.3% of the total population, SCs, STs, BCs and Minorities are begging for reservations in front of those who are not in majority. These thoughts were expressed by Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan, Managing Editor of SIasat Urdu Daily in a meeting held at Mahboob Nagar on Wednesday. This meeting was organized by Minorities Reservation United Front of Mahboob Nagar. Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan told the weaker sections that they are real rulers but a section of society with 10% population is ruling them. This group does not want that Muslims and Daliths to be united. It knows that the day Daliths and Muslims get United, it will lose its power. He stressed the need to work for the unity. He substantiated his statements by giving the example of five fingers of the hand. If they are separate, they can be broken one by one but if they are together they can hit a blow. The need of the hour today is unity of SC, ST, BC and Muslim. We should become a force in such a manner that no party could get success without our help. Hypocrites and selfish leaders assume power by making false promises and start using power against us. Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan told that Mahboob Nagar is a district which is educationally advanced but unemployment is a permanent issue here. People are forced to work on daily wages basis. He lamented that all the projects here have been given to the contractors belonging to Seema Andhra region whereas the people of Telangana are working under them as casual laborers. He further told that conducting such meetings are necessary. If we make use our political awareness in the right direction, all the Assembly seats and 6 parliamentary seats will be ours. The people of higher castes will never be successful in elections. Mr. Zaferullah Siddiqui, Convenor of Minorities Reservation Front of the District presided over the meeting.
Dr. Vinay Kumar, President of Justice Social Forum in his address told that the need of the hour is that we should get together on a common platform without any political or religious reservation. So long as the Muslims and the Daliths are not united, political strength cannot be gained without which the concept of Democracy is not possible. He pointed out that Telangana Movement of 1969 failed because Muslims did not take part in it in large numbers. The present agitation for separate Telangana met with success because Muslims participated in it in large numbers. He told that we want Telangana and secularism prior to 1947. He told the audience that individual efforts will not yield fruitful results. Only the joint efforts will meet with success. He told that political parties are adopting their old tactics before the elections. We have been deceived many times. We are in majority and we have to take a decision with political awareness.
Mr. N.P. Venkatesh, Advocate told that whatever injustices have been done to the people of Telangana in the past should not be repeated. He expressed his delight that Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan is participating in this meeting and said that if intellectuals like him visit the district, political awareness among the people would be enhanced.
Mr. Mohammed Abdul Razak, President of Muslim Sangam, Maulana Mohammed Ilyas Qasimi, Mr. Sanjiv Modiraj, Mr. S.M. Khaleel, Mr. Prabhakar, Mr. Babar Shaik, Mr. Mohammed Abdur Rahman Soofi, Mr. Baganna Goud, Tirupatanna, Mr. Mohammed Zafarullah Siddiqui attended the meeting.
