A delegation of Muslim leaders of Congress called on Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and apprised him of the current situation of the state and problems of Muslims. The leaders included in the delegation submitted a memorandum asking to declare Rahul Gandhi as prime ministerial candidate in AICC meeting.
Former state minster and MLC Mohammed Ali Shabbir, former state minister and general secretary Pradesh Congress Mohammed Fareeduddin, Congress MLC Mohammed Farooq Husain, Congress MLA Mastan Vali, president Pradesh Congress Minority Department Mohammed Sirajuddin, Setwin chairman Mohammed Maqsood Ahmed, secretaries Pradesh Congress S K Afzaluddin and Dr. M A Ansari and other Congress leaders Mohammed Meraj Khan, Waheed Maqbool, Fakhruddin, Mohammed Amjad and others signed on the memorandum. The leaders welcomed the decision of separate Telangana formation.
Throwing light on problems of Muslims they also demanded to increase Muslim representation in the next assembly, parliament, Rajya Sabha, council and other nominated posts.
