KCR government introduced Shaadi Mubarak Scheme as one time financial assistance to poor Muslim girls at the time of their marriage, in October 2014, under which 20000 Muslim girls are provided financial assistant of Rs. 51000 each. It must be noted that TRS government has allocated 1030 Cr for minorities in its first budget of which 100 cr have been earmarked for Shadi Mubarak Scheme. However due to lack of awareness among Muslims and lackadaisical approach adopted by officials in sanctioning applications Muslims are not fully benefiting from the scheme. Hence implementation of scheme is far behind the target. The target for Hyderabad was to benefit 7723 poor girls but names of only 1831 girls have been enrolled so far. So is the case in other districts.
Muslim organisations need to become active in this connection and create awareness among poor Muslim families through publicity campaigns. According to the statistics issued by Minority Welfare Department the target was to benefit 19607 girls however only 6088 applications were submitted of which only 1662 applications were accepted for financial assistance.
