Muslim bodies protest alleged demolition of a mosque

New Delhi, Jun 03: A group of representatives of prominent Muslim bodies demonstrated near the Prime Minister’s residence today to protest against the alleged demolition of a mosque and madrassa near the President’s estate.

Unhappy over what they claimed was a demolition without any notice or warning, the group staged a dharna, asking the Prime Minister to address their concerns.

The mosque and the madrassa, they said, was located less than a kilometre away from the President estate’s stable and was brought down three days back without any notice.

When contacted, an NDMC spokesperson said they have said no such action has been taken.

The agitating group, however, dispersed soon.

Navaid Hamid, General Secretary of the Majlis-e- Musawwarat said officials at the prime minister’s residence had assured the group that they would be listened to on Monday.
