Muslim applicants deprived of Rajiv Gruha Kalpa scheme

It seems that uncertainty prevails in the implementation of Rajiv Gruha Kalpa scheme Housing programme for the urban poor. Applications were received under this scheme with a promise that poor people living in urban areas would be given houses and an amount of Rs. 1,000 was also collected from each applicant by the staff of collectorate Hyderabad.

Such applicants were also given I.D. Cards. Govt. issued notification to construct houses in Bandlaguda, LB Nagar and other areas in a and around the city of Hyderabad. For the past eight years, people have been going round of the office of the collector but no response in being given to them. The staff members of collectorate are threatening that they would return Rs. 950 after deducting Rs. 50 towards registration fees.

It is understood that other applicants have been allotted houses. Muslim applicants are deprived of such housing facility because there is no one to represent their cases to the Revenue authorities. An old applicant Mr. Syed Adil told that he had registered applications in the names of his life and elder daughter-in-law in 2005 and remitted Rs. 1000 also. Even after eight years, there is none to listen to His grievances. He says that he has a large family and he does not have a house of his own to live in. his eldest son is an auto driver. It is also known that many deserving Muslim women had also registered their applications but so far Muslims have not been allotted any such Govt. houses.
