Murray outmuscles gutsy Granollers to reach Indian Wells third round

Indian Wells (California) : World number two Andy Murray produced a remarkable performance as he saw off Marcel Granollers to book his place in the third round of the BNP Paribas Open here on Sunday.

After a slow start against his Spanish opponent, the 28-year-old Scottish player rebounded strongly to secure a 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) victory in the thrilling second round of the tournament.

Describing Granollers as a ‘smart’ player, Murray admitted that the former had made right decisions during the game, adding that he had made quite difficult for him to claim a victory.

With the win, Murray has now set up a third-round clash with Federico Delbonis of Argentina, who has also made it to the next round after claiming a 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 win over Joao Sousa.(ANI)
