Murray anchors Great Britain to first Davis Cup semi-final in 34 years

London: World number three Andy Murray battled past Gilles Simon in a dramatic four-set thriller to help Great Britain reach their first Davis Cup semi-final in 34 years.

Murray overcame his French opponent Simon 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3, 6-0 in a thrilling contest at Queen’s Club to give Britain an unassailable 3-1 lead in the best-of-five tie, the BBC reported.

This was Murray’s third straight victory after thumping Jo-Wilfred Tsonga on Friday followed by his doubles win with his brother Jamie on the next day.

Britain will next face Australia in the semi-finals on 18-20 September. (ANI)
