New Delhi, August 17: With the arrest of one person, police today claimed to have solved a murder case in which a 22-year-old man was stabbed by unidentified persons on February 24 in Karolbagh.
“Praveen alias Cheeni, 22, was arrested Friday last when he and his accomplice Gyaneshwar alias Jojo were extorting money from a jeweller near Haryana Dairy,” a senior police official said.
During interrogation, Praveen confessed of his involvement in several crimes including the stabbing incident involving Diwakar. He told authorities that he and two of his accomplices Yashwant Rana and Kishan stabbed Diwakar on February 24 with an intention to rob him.
He was rushed to AIIMS trauma centre where he later succumbed to his injuries.
In connection with the extortion threat given to the jeweller Kapil Luthra, the accused persons had demanded Rs two lakhs, police said.
Luthra informed authorities and a trap was laid following which the accused persons arrested.
