Ram Kumar Chowdhary, a Congress MLA from Doon, an accused in the murder of a young girl, will take oath as member of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly on January 24. Vidhan Sabha Speaker Brij Bihari Lal Butail will administer the oath to the newly-elected MLA, now lodged in Ambala jail, in his chamber on January 24, officials said. Ram Kumar, suspended from the Congress party, had sought time from the Speaker through his lawyers for taking oath. Ram Kumar, an accused along with four others in the murder of a Haryana girl, was on the run for several days. He did not take oath on January eight, the first day of the Assembly session at Dharamsala. He surrendered on January eight and was sent to Ambala prison by a court. PTI
