Two staff members of the municipal revenue section were assaulted and attacked with a knife by a businessman in Ramaraopet area here today when they went to his shop and tried to serve a notice on him for payment of Property Tax dues over Rs.40,000 defaulted from 2007.
The staff had luckily escaped the attempt on their lives with the timely arrival of the City Crime Wing Circle Inspector Pavan Kishore while on his way home in his Jeep. On seeing the Inspector, the businessman fled from the scene. Based on the complaint lodged by the two staff members- Vijayakumar, Bill Collector and Bhushanam, Revenue Inspector, the two town police have registered the case.
Town Circle Inspector T. Devakumar told UNI that the accused was identified as Mallipudi Baba Mehar Prasad (50). He was an ex-convict in a murder case and runs a flex printing and colour hoardings business.
Hunt is on for the accused who is at large’ ,he added. UNI
